As an artist, the interests and concerns which inform my practice are mainly centred around issues of perception and on looking at the gaps that exist between perception, recognition and understanding. I am also interested in questions of ‘framing’ and identifying the boundaries between art and the world, as well as the ability of art to encapsulate complex ideas within a simplicity of form.
One of the main strands within my practice is a consideration of memory and the selectiveness which we apply in both remembering and forgetting. The mediums I use in my practice include: photography, drawing (graphite and pastel), acrylic, constructed panels in timber and MDF, spray paint, stick-on dots, found-objects, etc. Site-specific installation and an engagement with the ephemeral aspects of this type of work are an increasingly important thread in my practice.
